On May 30, H. E. Jesús Seade, the Mexican Ambassador to China, visited Tsinghua University. He attended the “Vision in Tsinghua, Dialogue with Ambassadors” event and delivered a speech titled "Accelerating pace of change of the world: Is education keeping up?" Prof. Yang Bin, vice president of Tsinghua University, met with H. E. Jesús Seade prior to the speech.

During the meeting, Yang warmly welcomed H. E. Jesús Seade and his delegation and provided an overview of Tsinghua University's development in discipline construction and talent cultivation, as well as the University’s 2030 global strategy. Yang noted that Tsinghua has maintained long-term close exchanges with Mexican universities, carrying out cooperation in various fields and achieving substantial results. He expressed the hope of collaboratively achieving greater alignment with global technological development trends and contributing to solving international challenges.

H. E. Jesús Seade congratulated Tsinghua University on its achievements in recent years. He noted that Tsinghua University is a top institution in Chinese higher education, contributing not only first-class academic research but also actively promoting China's economic and social development. He looks forward to continuing to strengthen the cooperation between Chinese and Mexican universities, further deepening multifaceted collaboration, and jointly promoting sustainable global development.

In his speech, H. E. Jesús Seade emphasized the urgent necessity for educational systems to swiftly adapt to the rapidly accelerating pace of global change. He underscored the critical importance of fostering innovation and entrepreneurial spirit within educational frameworks, which are essential for equipping students with the necessary skills to thrive in the continuously developing global economy. Furthermore, he outlined three key capabilities that students, particularly those at Tsinghua University, should embody: an open-minded attitude to embrace diverse perspectives; a global perspective to comprehend the complexities of globalization; and curiosity to fuel perpetual passion for learning.

The Mexican Ambassador also highlighted the significance of international cooperation and exchange programs in broadening the horizons of future leaders and promoting cross-cultural understanding. He stated his commitment to enhancing educational ties between Mexico and China, noting that 2024 marks the beginning of a second decade of comprehensive strategic partnership between the two nations. He emphasized that cultural exchanges and bilateral cooperation help release full potential for innovation. By promoting mutual understanding, he believed that such collective effort lays a solid foundation for a more interconnected and prosperous future.
