The first Tsinghua International Forum for Doctoral Candidates (TIFDC), organized by Tsinghua, opened in the School of Economics and Management September 3.

The gathering, which runs through September 11, brings together experts and outstanding doctoral students from 14 countries and districts. They will discuss and exchange ideas on electronic communication and technology innovation. A series of academic activities will also be convened during the nine days.

Vice President Gong Ke attended the opening ceremony held in the morning. He wished the forum success and stressed the importance of international exchange.

Professor Bengt-Ake Lundvall, from Aalborg University, also spoke at the ceremony.

TIFDC is committed to serve as a pioneering platform for academic exchange on a high level, and aims to provide opportunities for doctoral candidates to know up-to-date discipline researches and extend their academic vision, thus facilitating the exchange of research results and sparking inspiration.

Tsinghua launched the Doctoral Academic Forum in 2002, and the First National Doctoral Forum was held in Tsinghua in October 2003.
