China’s first modern handicrafts exhibition, featuring the works of several  Chinese art academies, opened Nov. 1 in the newly built Academy of Arts and Design.

Pieces in the exhibit, called “Inheriting and Transcending,” are from the Academy of Arts and Design of Tsinghua University, Fine Art College of Shanghai University, Xi’an Academy of Fine Arts, and Shandong Art & Design Academy.

The exhibition runs through Nov. 15.
