The former Prime Minister of Republic of Korea (ROK), Li Shoucheng, visited Tsinghua on December 22 and gave a speech on “the culture exchange in Northeast Asia and the education cooperation between China and Republic of Korea.”
Speaking in the main building to hundreds of students, Mr. Li noted that this was his third visit to Tsinghua and that the university “has seen great changes in the past years.”
Mr. Li highly praised the economic development that has taken place in China, and said that China will be one of the advanced nations in the world in the next 15 to 20 years.
“Cultural exchange and cooperation are urgent and significant for China and Republic of Korea to maintain a good relationship,” he emphasized.
Mr. Li then talked about the education cooperation between China and Republic of Korea, saying that efforts in this area can be greatly improved. “The young people in China and Republic of Korea can get to know each other better and respect other’s culture through effective education,” he said.
He suggested that more universities in the two countries establish friendly relations to boost cultural exchange.
Professor Zheng Yankang, Vice Chairperson of the University Council met and had a talk with Mr. Li Shoucheng.
