Tsinghua University's 2006 Spring Graduate Commencement Ceremony was held in the Gymnasium January 18. More than 1700 graduate students received their degrees. Among them, 242 were awarded doctorates and 1482 master's degrees.

President of Tsinghua and Chairman of the Degree Conferral Committee Gu Binglin, as well as other main leaders of the university attended the ceremony and awarded certificates to the students.

President Gu delivered a speech on the ceremony. On behalf of the university, he extended the warmest congratulations to the seated graduates. He commended the students for their hard working and contribution to the construction of the academic atmosphere in Tsinghua University.

“The study and life in Tsinghua will become a tresurable memory in your life,” said President Gu. He encouraged the students to aim high, have a sense of responsibility, and strive for excellence in their future work and study.
