Tsinghua student Liu Tianyou, 24, won the men's 10m Air Rifle individual gold medal in the 2006 Doha Asian Games on December 2. Liu and his teammates Zhu Qinan and Li Jie took the first gold medal of the Asian Games in the men's 10m air rifle team event that day with a total score of 1,786 points in the competition.

Also Zhao Yinghui, who is now studying at Tsinghua, won silver medal in the women's 10m Air Rifle event. Zhao and her teammates won gold in the women's 10m Air Rifle team event.
