GEPC program creates a space for global leaders who are interested in seeking opportunities in China and collaborating with Chinese companies internationally.

It provides international leaders with theoretical and practical frameworks to nurture their Chinese business acumen, as well as utilize the abundant resources and connections from Tsinghua School of Economics and Management (Tsinghua SEM).

The participants from eight different countries were committed to embarking on an exciting adventure with GEPC.

DI Ruipeng, the Director of Global Executive Courses, Tsinghua SEM, and Tomas Casas, Director of the China Competence Center University of St. Gallen attended the sessions and made inspiring presentations about the GEPC and the opportunities and challenges of doing business with Chinese companies in China and in the international market.

China’s rise is inevitable, says Dr. Casas. He added it was very important for business and executive managers who want to create new opportunities in China and in international market to understand it.

He emphasized on the value of the GEPC program in not only helping global leaders stay competitive in the Chinese market, but also in the international market as well.

After the presentations, participants also introduced themselves and shared their goals in the GEPC and their interests in China and the global market.

“My main focus is to develop a stronger business relationship and friendship between China and Mexico, by understanding both markets, their opportunities and challenges to close the gap,” says Héctor Dorbecker, Counsellor of Economic, Technology, New Industries and Financial Affairs from the Embassy of Mexico in China said.

“Aiming to increase bilateral Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) and grow the participation of Mexican companies in the Chinese market, with a special focus on high-end manufacturing, automotive traditional and EV, clean energy, aerospace, technology, new industries such as AI, VR, AR, Blockchain, among others, and construct financial mechanisms to tackle climate change and develop SMEs.

“In that sense, I have a significant gap on knowledge and expertise about Chinese government, its culture, market, key stakeholders and identifying more efficiently what Chinese business opportunities fit in the Mexican market, both inbound and outbound.

“With this in mind, my expectation of the program is that will transform my understanding about China and thus will empower me to be a closer friend and ally to strengthen in a strategical way the bilateral relationship between China and Mexico, which at the end will have as an outcome that Chinese and Mexican thrive together by building sustainable public-private businesses.”
