China and Indonesia have a long history of friendly relations. This year marks the 10th anniversary of President Xi Jinping's proposal to jointly build the "21st Century Maritime Silk Road" since his first visit to Indonesia in 2013. It also marks the 10th anniversary between the two countries' establishment of comprehensive strategic partnership.
Just as its national motto "Unity in Diversity" suggests, Indonesia is home to many ethnicities and cultures that blend into a unique human landscape. It ranks first in the world in palm oil production and second in natural rubber production. The country has a developed mining industry and is the world's largest exporter of thermal coal. Exports reached approximately 400 million metric tons in 2022.

Djauhari Oratmangun
Ambassador Djauhari Oratmangun has served as the Ambassador of Indonesia to China since 2018. Previously, he served as the Director of Multilateral Economic Cooperation at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, Director of ASEAN Cooperation and ASEAN-Indonesia Summit Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to Russia with concurrent accreditation to Belarus, and Senior Advisor on Strategic Issues at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia.
Tsinghua Southeast Asia Center, established in October 2018, is based in Bali, Indonesia. It is expanding its influence across the Southeast Asian region. Tsinghua University actively promotes talent development, academic, and cultural exchanges among Southeast Asian countries. The Centre aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and helps to implement the Belt and Road Initiative.
