Innovator Recruitment for SDG Open Hack at Tsinghua

In 2015, 193 member countries in the United Nations formally passed 17 Sustainable Development Goals at the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals Summit. The goals aim to eliminate all forms of poverty, inequality and fight climate change between 2015 to 2030.

During the SDG Open Hack at Tsinghua, you will devote 24 hours of your time to change the world. Here, you can discuss sustainable development growth with like-minded friends and brainstorm for solutions. You will get to cultivate your innovative thinking to show the social mission and responsibility of the new youth!

This event is co-organized by Tsinghua x-lab, iCenter and Center for Global Competence Development, Tsinghua University. From Nov.30 to Dec.1, students will participate in a 24-hour hackathon challenge. Thirteen hosting faculty will have its own individual hackathon with different topics at the same time. Each hackathon event will be led by a Hack Leader who would be a distinguished professor from the faculty. On the afternoon of Dec.1, there would be final competition held at the Weilun Building of the School of Economics and Management.

They are actively recruiting Innovators across university! Students are encouraged to choose a hackathon with the theme that they are best interested in; and form an Innovation Team during the event. Each team should focus on the Challenge to come out with an Innovation Solution. Four to five professional experts will be invited as mentors and judges of each hackathon. The best Team will be selected to participate in the final presentation and award ceremony.

This event aims to stimulate students’ innovation capability and understanding of sustainable development. In addition, it serves to promote national sustainable development strategies and United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, to strengthen social responsibility among young people today. The event also hopes to advance global competence of Tsinghua students, sparking the power of creation through a culture of innovation at Tsinghua University.
