“Lectures on Arts & Humanities, Academy of Arts & Design, Tsinghua University”, delivered by senior professors and academic masters in the field of arts & humanities, aim to establish a cutting-edge platform for the communication of academic thoughts, to perceive in a timely way and grasp the pulse of the times, and to actively explore new ideas, directions and modes for the development and research of arts & humanities. This series of lectures, based on the concept of liberal education, are open to teachers and students of Tsinghua University as well as the public in the form of integrating offline and online media.
Professor Feng Yuan’s works, mainly reflecting historical themes and real life, are characterized by rigorous and vivid shapes, a strong flavor of life, diverse painting forms and a compelling and stately style, with special talent at creating large-scale epic works and paintings about classical Chinese poetry. His representative works include traditional Chinese paintings “The Wise Man of the Century”, “Poetic Meaning of Qu Yuan’s Rhapsody”, “Free Excursion”, “This Life and the Afterlife”, among others. His main monographs include Record of the East Window, Returning to Dissimilar Similarity, Returning to the Simplicity, A Textbook on Ink Painting and other works. Additionally, he has published collections of painting works, essays and teaching materials. Over the past 30 years, his works have been selected into major art exhibitions in China, winning gold, silver, bronze and excellence awards more than 20 times. Also, his works have been collected by art galleries and museums at home and abroad. In addition, a large number of his works have been exhibited in European countries, as well as the United States, Japan, South Korea and other countries. He has lectured and had study tours in several countries, and held solo exhibitions in Beijing, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Taiwan and France, Japan, Singapore and other countries. Meanwhile, he has planned and participated in organizing and implementing the “National Project on Creating Major Historical Arts”, the “Project on Creating Arts about Ancient Chinese Civilization” and “Chinese Homeland” art creation activities sponsored by several ministries and commissions of China.
