The information conference of the 12th From Lausanne to Beijing International Fiber Art Biennale opened on July 13 in Yunnan Provincial Museum.

Wu Huayu, secretary-general of the organizing committee, presided over the event, and Wang Kai, executive secretary, gave a briefing about the exhibition.

The exhibition, held both online and on site, has attracted 56 participating countries. To date, there have been 63 foreign pieces presented online, 66 offline and 63 domestic works.

Ma Sai, chairman of the organizing committee, Party secretary and dean of the Academy of Arts & Design of Tsinghua University, said that the exhibition has been successfully held for 11 sessions. As a national cultural exchange project with foreign countries, it has attracted global attention and was well received in South America and Europe.

Wu Xi, chief curator of the Biennale and chairman of Tsinghua Holdings Habitat Development Group Corporation Limited, said the exhibition has enlightening significance in international cultural exchange and communication.

From Lausanne to Beijing International Fiber Art Biennale was conceptualized by Lin Lecheng, a professor at Tsinghua University Academy of Arts & Design. It has become an important event in the field of international fiber art.

Lin said that over the years, the event has attracted the participation of over 100 universities at home and abroad, and thousands of famous artists. Art works have been on display in six continents.

Many internationally renowned fiber artists, such as Georgian tapestry artist Givi Kandareli, American artists and activists Joan Schulze and Nancy Kozikowski, are the initiators and important participants of the exhibition.

The exhibit has received strong support from the China National Arts Fund since the start of the preparatory work.

Guests from Tsinghua University Academy of Arts & Design, Lancang-Meikong International Vocational Institute of Yunnan Minzu University and Yunnan Provincial Museum attended the event.
