As China's two elite science and technology institutes, the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and the Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE) announced their results in the biennial selection of new academicians, with six professors and five alumni of Tsinghua University being granted the highest academic title in the country. Two alumni were enlisted foreign academicians.
Tsinghua professors including Li Luming from the School of Aerospace Engineering; Shi Songhai from the School of Life Sciences; Hu Shimin from the Department of Computer Science and Technology; Duan Luming from the Institute for Interdisciplinary Information Sciences; and Yan Ning from the School of Life Sciences were selected as academicians of the CAS. Professor Lyu Junfu from the Department of Energy and Power Engineering was selected as an academician of the CAE.
Tsinghua alumni Zhang Rongqiao, a Master's degree graduate of the School of Economics and Management, was selected as an academician of the CAS. Xing Feng, a Bachelor's degree graduate of the Department of Chemical Engineering and Ph.D. graduate of the Department of Civil Engineering; Li Jindong, a Ph.D. graduate of the Department of Engineering Mechanics; Yu Gang, a faculty member at the School of Environment from 1992 to 2022; and Pan Yishan, a Ph.D. graduate of the Department of Engineering Mechanics were selected as academicians of the CAE.
Additionally, Zhang Jianwei, a Bachelor's degree and Master's degree graduate of the Department of Computer Science and Technology, and Kang Jian, a Bachelor's degree and Master's degree graduate of the Department of Architecture, were selected as foreign academicians of the CAE.
