Heng Swee Keat, Singapore's deputy prime minister and coordinating minister for Economic Policies, visited Tsinghua University on April 8. Qiu Yong, secretary of the CPC Tsinghua University Committee, met with Heng and his delegation. They exchanged views on deepening cooperation between Tsinghua and Singapore.

Peter Tan, Singaporean ambassador to the People’s Republic of China, and Beh Kian Teik, chief executive officer, National Research Foundation, accompanied the visit. Tsinghua Vice President Wang Hongwei attended the meeting.

Qiu Yong delivers a speech

Qiu welcomed Heng and his delegation and introduced Tsinghua's global strategy implementation, discipline construction, talent cultivation, and international cooperation. Qiu stated that Tsinghua attaches great importance to cooperation with Singaporean educational and research institutions. He hopes for the further deepening of the partnership, particularly in areas such as healthcare, medical research, artificial intelligence, and talent cultivation, to contribute to the development of education in both countries and address global challenges.

Heng stated that he was delighted to visit Tsinghua University. He emphasized that tackling common challenges such as public health, sustainable development, and aging populations requires sharing experiences and strengthening global cooperation. He noted that Tsinghua is one of China's top-tier higher education institutions. He hopes to further promote cooperation and exchanges between Singaporean universities, research institutions, and Tsinghua in various fields such as healthcare, education, and artificial intelligence in the future.
