The 4th “THU-PKU Low-Carbon Campus Design Game” was recently held at Peking University, with the theme “Healthier Planet, Healthier People”.
The event displayed the outcomes of two courses – Tsinghua University’s "Handmade Innovation Practice" and Peking University’s "Sustainable Campus Practice".
In the speech titled “How Design Contributes to the Dual Carbon Goals”, Professor Liu Xin from the Academy of Arts & Design at Tsinghua University said that change begins with small individual actions. Through collective efforts, the vision of "Healthier Planet, Healthier People" will eventually be realized.
During the courses, students from the two universities formed 12 groups. They conducted research and practical activities to promote the recycling of paper and books, renovate toilets and design therapeutic gardening activities.
In the “Handmade Innovation Practice” course, Tsinghua students engaged in hands-on learning at the iGarden, where they learned about soil and composting, planting and maintenance, garden design, construction techniques and intelligent garden management.
Tsinghua University and Peking University will carry out sustained cooperation based on curricula and spatial design, and hold a series of activities to promote low-carbon and sustainable development.
