SOE, Tsinghua Aug 17, 2016？ On August 9th, 2016, the opening ceremony of the 2016 Tsinghua International Summer School-Environment was held at the School of Environment. The summer school is hosted by the School of Environment and the State Key Joint Laboratory of Environment Simulation and Pollution Control. More than 80 students from China and 25 other countries attended the summer school.

Xue Qikun, Vice President of Tsinghua University, and He Kebin, Dean of School of Environment, welcomed students from all over the world to Tsinghua. Prof. Wu Ye, Associate Dean of School of Environment, introduced the curriculum and aims of the summer school. Mr. Corrado Clini, former Italian Minister for the Environment, Land and Sea, Assistant Dean Dr. Sun Fu and former Vice Dean Prof. Zuo Jiane also participated in the opening ceremony.

The summer school will last 16 days, and will focus on three topics, i.e. cultural experience, environmental responsibility and inspirational innovation. The summer school will offer seminars on critical environmental issues hosted by renowned experts from leading universities and organizations. There will also be visits to environmental facilities. Students will be encouraged to work in a team and develop creative plans for environment protection in China, combining their knowledge with China’s situation.
