As Tsinghua University is stepping into a new era of pursuing a world top university, the Department of Precision Instrument has also started her journey for a new round of high-quality and rapid development. We are committed to conducting interdisciplinary and cutting-edge scientific research for fundamental frontiers , solving major challenges in practical engineering applications for national significant needs, and educating top-notch innovative talents in engineering for the strategy of reinvigorating China through human resource development. In recent years, we have made a series of significant achievements in scientific research, such as the micro-nano satellites for space exploration, biochips for medical diagnosis and therapy, stereoscopic photonic chips, and high-precision atomic clocks for navigation system.
The scientific research of our Department not only plays an important role in the major fields of national key research strategy including informatics, aerospace, environmental protection, and national defense; but also covers a wide range of emerging new areas such as life science instruments, smart wearable devices, medical and health care, new energy, and new materials. These research activities are playing an increasingly important role in the rapid development of scientific and technological innovation and the new era of Artificial Intelligence.
Facing the future, we should seize the opportunity of development, strengthen the impact of our disciplines, and plan the development strategy of our Department. Our scientific research should continue supporting and serving the key demands of our nation, solving the major problems of human being development, and improving the living conditions of our people. This is the mission that we DPIers are always striving for!
