On the afternoon of July 8, 2018, the ceremony and academic report of the honorary professor of Academician Gu Min of Tsinghua University was held in Conference Room 4304 of 9003 Building of Department of Precision Instrument. Vice President You Zheng attended the ceremony and issued an appointment letter to Academician Gu Min. Academician Jin Guofan of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Toyohiko Yatagai, former chairman of the International Society of Optical Engineering, and Bai Benfeng, the post of graduate student of the school's party committee, attended the appointment ceremony. The director of the Department of Precision Instruments, Ouyang Zheng, presided over the meeting.
In his speech, Vice President You Zheng highly praised the academic achievements of Academician Gu Min, introduced the origins of Academician Gu and Tsinghua for many years, and expressed his heartfelt gratitude to Academician Gu Min for his long-term concern and support for the development of Tsinghua University. The appointment of Professor Gu Min by Emeritus Professor of Tsinghua University will not only promote the development of Tsinghua Optoelectronics and Instrumentation, but also help to create a good international research cooperation atmosphere.
Academician Gu Min reviewed his exchanges and cooperation with Tsinghua University at various levels, and thanked the teachers and students of Tsinghua University for their outstanding contributions in the cooperation at various levels. The Honorary Professor of Tsinghua University has provided him with a broader platform. He will cherish this opportunity and better serve the development of Tsinghua University and contribute to the implementation of China's innovation-driven development strategy.
After the ceremony, Academician Gu Min went to the 47th academic lecture hall of the Department of Fine Arts, and gave a keynote speech titled "Laser Nano Additive Manufacturing: Going to the Future." The principle and characteristics of laser nano-super-resolution additive manufacturing are expounded, and a series of groundbreaking research progress and achievements of the team in the fields of ultra-high density and ultra-long-life optical storage, super energy storage and artificial intelligence are introduced.
The “Thousand Talents Program” Ning Cunzheng, Shi Luping and about 30 people from the Department of Precision Instrument attended the ceremony and listened to the report.
Academician Gu Min is an academician of the Australian Academy of Sciences, an academician of the Australian Institute of Technical Science and Engineering, and a foreign academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering. He is one of the international authorities and pioneers in the fields of nanophotonics and three-dimensional optical imaging. He is in the fields of micro-nanophotonics and biophotonics, achieving breakthrough research results and writing 4 books, 20 monograph chapters, more than 480 international authoritative magazine articles and more than 260 international academic conference articles. Since 2013, his paper has been cited by SCI more than 8,000 times, serving more than 20 times. At the same time, he is the member of the editorial board of the top international journals.
