On April 29th 2017, the Alumni Reunion of the Institute of Economics, School of Social Sciences of Tsinghua University was held at Jinchun Garden. Liu Taoxiong, Director of the Institute of Economics, Wang Yong, Deputy Director of the Institute of Economics, Wang Shengsheng, Secretary of Party Branch of the Institute of Economics, and the faculty, staffs, students and alumni of the Institute of Economics attended the event, as well as participated in a forum.
Secretary Wang Shengsheng first extended sincere greetings to the attendees and introduced the theme, process of the forum and the main guests.
The forum discussed the topic of "Inheriting Tsinghua Tradition and Contributing to China’s Economic Reform Practice". Professor Gao Shujuan, on behalf of the Institute of Economics, first delivered the keynote speech concerning the Tsinghua tradition and the meaning of contemporary social happiness, from the perspective of economics of happiness. Alumni Qiao Wenjun, the Partner of the Beijing Capital Investment Co., Ltd. and President of Honden Capital, Zhou Lisha, Associate Research Fellow of Research Center of State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council (SASAC), and Liu Yan, Deputy Secretary General of the Alumni Association, delivered the following speeches: "Entrepreneurial Thinking and Investment Logic", "Mixed Ownership Reform of State-owned Enterprises", and "Invisible Assets of Socialist Economic Practice" respectively. After a heated discussion, the alumni forum came to the end.
The alumni forum was an important step in Tsinghua University promoting alumni collaboration, and also an important part in celebrating the 106th anniversary of the university. The alumni of Tsinghua University have always been concerned about the development of their alma mater and the development of the younger students. By holding the alumni forum, the distance between the alumni outside of school and the students in school is narrowed. Through their own growth experiences after successful education at Tsinghua, the alumni are able to provide inspiration for current students to develop a good plan for starting a rich and meaningful university life, which has boosted the quality of talent training at Tsinghua University. By leveraging Tsinghua’s method and capacity, it will benefit more people and achieve the goal of "common progress".
