On the afternoon of April 28, teachers, students and alumni of Institute of Economics held an alumni exchange meeting and forum at Meeting Room 3 of Jinchun Garden to celebrate the 107th anniversary of Tsinghua University and the 25th anniversary of the Institute.
Liu Taoxiong, Director of Institute of Economics, first extended a warm welcome to the alumni for their return and then reviewed the developments of the Institute over the past year, and pointed out achievements in talent introduction, student cultivation and scientific research. He expects that the alumni can often return to the Institute, share their achievements and communicate with teachers about whatever perplexes them.
Huang Dehai, Deputy Director of the Institute, introduced the agenda, teachers attending the meeting and guest speakers. The meeting was addressed by three guests, including a teacher and two alumni, one from Chinese Academy of Science and Technology for Development, Ministry of Science and Technology and the other from China Center for Information Industry Development.
Rong Ke, a teacher at the Institute of Economics, was the first to deliver a speech, which was titled “Sharing Economy and China’s Economic Development. Since 2014, sharing economy has taken off in China and plays a nonnegligible role in optimizing industrial structure, driving demand and promoting employment. Then, how sharing economy is developing in China? What contributions have it made to China’s economic development? Focusing on sharing economy and the overall situation of China’s economic development, the speech presents a comprehensive analysis of sharing economy in China.
Zhao Gang, an alumnus of the Institute of Economics, delivered a speech on national innovation strategy and entrepreneurship. He mentioned that the three technological and industrial revolutions reshaped the global competition pattern, and the age of global innovation began after three transfers and four crossovers. Drawing from historical lessons, China must seize the opportunity of global innovation. When it comes to how to seize the opportunity, he suggested innovation throughout the chain, in all aspects and in the globe.
Li Yiming, an alumna of the Institute of Economics, gave a speech titled “Digital Technologies and Digital Economy Tied Closely to You”. Digital economy has become a hot issue throughout the world. Digital economy is undergoing a “nuclear fusion” and is breaking away from the concept with which we are familiar (or we thought we were familiar). Besides, it has penetrated into our life, work, organizations and ideas...Economy, society, politics and culture are quickly changing with the development of digital economy. She shared what she knew and understood about digital economy in the research, the past, present and future of digital economy as well as opportunities and puzzles brought by digital economy.
After these speeches, Zhao Gang donated his works National Innovation Strategy and Entrepreneurship to the Institute of Economics.
