Promoting the development of curriculum-based ideological and political education is an important measure to stick to the socialist orientation in running schools and carry out the basic task of fostering virtue through education. It also serves a key role in implementing Tsinghua University's educational philosophy, which emphasizes value shaping, ability training and knowledge imparting. To strengthen the implementation of curriculum-based ideological and political education, the Teaching Committee of the School of Social Sciences set up a dedicated group, formulating the Measures for the Selection of Model Courses and Model Teachers of Curriculum-Based Ideological and Political Education in the School of Social Sciences.
In May 2023, the School of Social Sciences initiated the application process for the first batch of school-level model courses and teachers in curriculum-based ideological and political education. Based on the deliberation and approval by the Teaching Committee and the Curriculum-Based Ideological and Political Education Group, the course “Law and Economics” offered by the Institute of Economics, School of Social Sciences, Tsinghua University, was recognized as a model course, and its instructor was honored as a model teacher in this field.
